Moving Day

We're moving!

Initially we had planned to stay in North Vancouver, but when we found this place in Kits we fell in love with it as it is much more central and we loved the look and feel of the place... The almost vertical stairs to the loft where we will be doing all of the post-processing and editing work, the chocolate-brown walls.. I can't wait!

It will probably be at least a few weeks before we're all settled in and able to do client consults and meetings there, but it will be worth the wait!

ps - Please excuse me if I am a bit delayed in responding to emails in the next couple days :)

Kylie & Shawn

Next summer, Kylie and Shawn are having a black, white and granny smith apple themed wedding! So when they asked if I would be willing to photograph their engagement session in an apple orchard I thought it was such a great idea!! I always love fun and different ideas like this, it's always great to try something new...

They also brought along their dog Bandit, who was such a smart little puppy with all the tricks he could do!

Canucks

As an early anniversary present (our 3rd anniversary is Oct 10!) Jin surprised me with tickets to tonight's Canuck's game!! It was SO fun! Normally I'm not much of a hockey fan but actually being at the game was much more exciting than watching it on tv, I really got into it. Even though they lost I got to experience everything from all three periods, to overtime, to a shootout!
Thanks Jin!

Chantelle & Matthew - UBC Boathouse

I had such a great time photographing Chantelle and Matt at their engagement session last spring that I was really looking forward to seeing and photographing them both again at the wedding. As expected, it was a wonderful day!

Chantelle chose the most incredible colours for their wedding - eggplant purple and limey avocado. I think this has to be my new favourite colour combination because I just loved them and the whole wedding party looked stunning in it.

It was a sand ceremony!

100% Digital

Last night I sold my darkroom. It's sad because I used to spend soooo much time in the darkroom, especially after I'd just come back from a trip.. Every spare minute, that is where I would be. It's funny, I had always sworn that I would NEVER go digital :P But of course once I'd actually seen how high the quality was with digital I was convinced and I've never looked back... As much fun as the darkroom is I just don't have time for it anymore, and everything I used to do in the darkroom I can now do on the computer in a fraction of the time.

I am happy though that it went to a good home, this really nice couple wound up buying it who seemed super into photography and like they would be getting a lot of use out of it.. Hopefully they have as much fun with it as I did!

Kate & Kenny - Kirkland House

What a beautiful day we had yesterday, a perfect day to get married! Kate & Kenny had a very unique and personalized ceremony. As Kate walked down the aisle she was serenaded by a beautiful song Kenny sung to her while playing the guitar. They also wrote their own vows!

This was also one of the most punctional weddings I have been to this summer - they hardly strayed from their timeline, and even when they did it soon managed to get itself back on schedule!

There were even goldfish in vases by the alter!

Brianna

Brianna was needing some headshots and posed dance photos, which are not something I normally do but I've photographed her with her husband a few times and always had a great time so I was happy to do it. I was glad I did because it was a lot of fun! Brianna was willing to climb up on the train for some of the shots which was well worth it, I think we got some great images!

I drive by these trains all the time and although I'd taken some fine art photographs there a few years back, I've never photographed people there. I think it would be a fantastic spot for an engagement shoot too!

Tara & Sebastian - Brew Creek Lodge

Tara and Sebastian's wedding was located in a beautiful setting 15 minutes outside of Whistler where they had an entire weekend full of fun activities planned for their guests. I loved that they are such a down to earth and fun couple! They are also so close to their families, and had such meaningful speeches that it hardly left anyone with a dry eye. Thanks guys, it was great to take part in your day!

I was amazed by how well behaved these kids were all day..

The evening ended with a ton of dancing!!
